How much notice does Horizon need to schedule a transport?

We prefer that rides are scheduled 24 hours in advance. That allows us sufficient time to ensure that there are no conflicts with previously scheduled rides. However, we accommodate last-minute or emergency calls with as much flexibility as we can.

I know you're open for service 24 hours a day. But does that include holidays as well?

Yes. We're always there when you need us.

Is your service for round-trip pick-ups and returns? What if I only need to transfer a patient one way?

Most of the calls we receive are for round-trip service, such as for appointments to and from a doctor's office or a wound-care facility. But yes, we're happy to arrange one-way rides as well.

Can individuals call Horizon for non-emergency rides? Or is your service restricted to medical professionals?

Although most of our calls come from medical people, Horizon is happy to accommodate private callers as well. In fact, we allow aides or family members to ride with their loved ones at no extra cost.

When drivers bring patients for a round-trip appointment, do they wait for them?

It depends on the patient's schedule. Drivers either wait to bring the patient back or, if the appointment is expected to take quite some time, they rely on the doctor or facility's call to alert them when to return to pick the patient up again. To avoid unnecessary delays, drivers always make a point of asking when patients are expected to be finished and ready for the ride back.
